Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and bridges can preserve and restore your smile by repairing and protecting badly damaged teeth, or by replacing them entirely.
A crown covers up a tooth that has been badly damaged. You may need this treatment if you have a heavily decayed tooth, or where some of its structure has been lost due to trauma. By covering up the entire tooth, we can protect and restore its strength and appearance. Crowns are also used to support dental bridges.
A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth adjacent to each other. We might suggest using a bridge to restore teeth lost to decay or gum disease, or to trauma. A bridge is supported by crowns fitted on the teeth adjacent to the gap. These crowns are attached to the replacement teeth which are called pontics.
